The sound reinforcement system at the impressive Nashville “Gaylord Entertainment Center” was recently replaced with 48 Aero 38a self-powered speakers from DAS Audio’s Aero Line Array family of products. Additional DAS Audio product was included, greatly improving the performance over the previous installed system.

Located in the world’s country music capital of Nashville, Tennessee, the stadium’s audio system was upgraded by “Durrell Sports”, and presided by John Horrell which, specializes in the design and installation of sound reinforcement systems for large-scale sports arenas and stadiums including: Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, Indiana Pacers, Vanderbilt University, Bristol Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Kansas City Royals, Churchill Downs, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Nashville Predators.

DAS Aero 38A cluster

For the Gaylord Entertainment Center house system, “Durrell, L.L.C.” installed 48 Aero38A’s flown in eight clusters in key positions through out the arena. Flown beneath each Aero 38A cluster, via an AX-COMOflybar, are the DAS Audio’s BiDriver units providing extreme directional pattern control in the mid-high frequencies allowingDurrell to reach critical but difficult seating areas. Additional BiDrivers are scheduled to replace existing product under the central score board as soon as the arena’s schedule permits. Choosing the Aero 38A for an audio system installation of this sort has proven to be a major success since the system provides a better, more uniform sound coverage as flown and it also offers greater audio flexibility for the arena by allowing a greater range of events to be held. In addition to the Aero 38A system, eight ST-110 speakers were used to cover acoustically dark areas and eight Compact 218 Sub provided low-end frequency reproduction.

The Gaylord Entertainment Center was built in 1997 and is “home ice” for the NHL Nashville Predators as well as home field for the Nashville Kats of the Arena Football League. The “GEC” is Nashville’s first choice as a venue for everything from theLipizzaner Stallions to NCAA Basketball Championships to national and international concert touring performers as the venue will seat up to 20,000 people. As a tribute to Nashville’s musical heritage, the entrance to the Arena is positioned on the corner of Broadway and Fifth Avenue to face the Ryman Auditorium, the original home of the Grand Ole Opry.
